Falls Church, VA, May 25, 2017 – Aptara, a global digital content and publishing leader, has announced the launch of SciPris, a web-based platform that automates the collection of open access, publishing, color figure, and reprint charges.
Invoicing and collecting publishing charges is a pain-point for many of our clients, said Samir Kakar, President of Aptara. Performing these tasks manually is creating a bottleneck in their publishing process and requires dedicated staff. SciPris not only automates these processes, but can push and pull data from a publisher’s internal production system, ensuring complete and accurate metadata.
Once a publisher starts using SciPris, they point their authors to the platform to create an account once their paper is approved for publication. Article metadata is pulled via API from the publisher’s internal system or peer review partner, and, once populated, SciPris calculates the appropriate charge. Users have the ability to split charges with a co-author and assign an institution that will render payment.
SciPris has a sophisticated, web-based module for invoicing and ecommerce that allows authors or their funding bodies to pay within the secure platform using the currency of their choice. When payment is received, the publisher is notified that the article is ready for publication and funds collected are transferred within a few days.
